My Story

When my marriage ended with a bang, it was one of those moments in life that quite literally forced me onto my knees and made me take a radically honest look at myself. I realized that I had some serious work to do, that I had been disconnected from my authentic self, and that I had to get to know and love myself better before trying to know and love someone else. I knew that I had to shine a light onto my dark sides, bring suppressed emotions to the surface, and break through old defense mechanisms. Multiple pillars of my identity crumbled at the same time including “I don’t get angry”, “I don’t need therapy”, “I don’t need much to be happy”, etc. and I suddenly realized that I had lived the first 33 years of my life without boundaries and primarily driven by seeking external validation.

The first step towards my (ongoing) transformation was “traditional” psychotherapy. While I certainly benefited from it and learned a lot about myself, it wasn’t quite “doing it” for me. I then worked with alternative healers and coaches, which led to powerful breakthrough moments. Instead of intellectually dissecting the past to make sense of the present, which was often the focus of therapy, coaching helped me be in the present and get in touch with my wants, needs, and emotions. It helped me get out of my head and go inward and into my heart and soul. It helped me look at my life from new perspectives and take full responsibility for my happiness.

I am forever grateful for the clarity I have received from my coaches and the path of self-acceptance and self-responsibility they have led me to. My single biggest driver behind becoming a life coach is the desire to pay it forward by helping others go inward, see their lives more clearly, accept themselves fully, break through disempowering stories and self-limiting patterns, and create more of what their soul wants.

Coaching Certification

I completed an intensive hands-on 120-hour training program with Seattle Life Coach Training (SLCT) with a focus on the students practicing the learned skills with each other in one-on-one coaching sessions. SLCT’s curriculum covers all the core competencies outlined by both the ICF and the IAC. The program not only taught me the skills to guide my clients through a session but also helped me take my own personal transformation to the next level after many years of “doing the work”.
